A Glowing Review
Jonathan Clarke brings an intelligent and sympathetic approach to collaboration with others in the context of important architectural spaces.
At Chichester Cathedral he has worked with me over a period of years, most significantly on the reordering of Saint Richard’s shrine and in making an aumbry built into the Lady Chapel for the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament. Such commissions require not only great sensitivity to the place but also to the purpose of the pieces. Practical problems have also had to be solved; the hinging of the large door to the aumbry or the balancing of 4 metre high crosses at the shrine. Jonathan worked in the most dedicated way through the entire process from initial concept, through approvals, to the final installation of the works on site. The completed pieces are assured at distance and close-to where the texture and play of light ensure vitality and interest.
